Real Tubber U13 on tour in Germany
Real Tubber U13's had a great time over the weekend enjoying the finest weather with pure sunshine. They travelled with 15 players and 7 Coaches to Wiesbaden/Germany. After a long journey over 1000km and Youthhostel Check-In, the first day on Friday was rounded up with swimming pool and seightseeing. Saturday morning the lads showed up their climbing abilities, in a forest park with several courses in different heights and with different levels of difficulty. Next venue was the Frankfurt Commerzbank-Arena (Worldcup Stadium 2006), to see the Bundesligamatch between Eintracht Frankfurt and 1.FC Nuernberg. Two goals could be seen when they drew 1:1. Swimming Pool again and enjoyment on a town-festival in the evening completed the second day. Getting up early sunday morning, for the planned friendly match against the german U13-team of FC Limbach. The weather was a bit too hot (30C), but the host club delivered loads of drink and big buckets with water along the sideline, to cool down the "warmed up" players. The match was very entertaining when Tubber went up 1:0 after 15min by Brian Morahan, and Limbach equalized 10 min later. Looking for shade at halftime was vital. When the second half started, Tubber came back strong, and Jason Perry scored twice. Tubber controlled the match most of the time and deserved the 3:1 win. Tubber Player of the match was Martin Carr, who worked hard and showed his great talent. All players did very well, especially Gavin Durkin played a brilliant match. The Limbach team was always dangerous for breaks, some of them showed up excellent skills, but hard luck and Tubber goaly Ryan Munnelly prevented more goals for the team of our hosts. A barbeque (in the shade) was organized after the match, english/german language practice was on the agenda now. Unfortunately the time schedule finished up the post-match party too early, and the Tubber Boys travelled back to the Airport. Arriving in Tubbercurry at 11 in the evening, with very little sleep over the last 3 days, the lads were tired but very happy after the enjoyable weekend.
